In celebration of RCM Green Week, the RCM Wind Ensemble performs a nature-inspired programme by exciting contemporary composers. Amongst an eclectic number of works is Ruth Gipps' programmatic Seascape, thought to be inspired by a trip to the coastal town of Broadstairs.
Also on the programme is Grace-Evangeline Mason’s The Water Garden, inspired by Amy Lowell’s poem Chinoiseries, which describes an idealistic landscape of 'crimson peonies', and 'tinkling pagodas', juxtaposed with mystery and unease.
The concert culminates in Mark Simpson's volcanic Geysir, with its pulsing background and lyrical clarinet, horn and oboe eruptions.
