'FIREWORKS (2018) for soprano and orchestra is a work based on the poem of the same name by Amy Lowell (1874-1925). Lowell's poem generates stunning imagery whilst simultaneously reflecting on human relationships. The set text is treated, edited and utilised in this piece so that the fantastical visualisations created can take precedence. It is a poem filled with moments of both explosive colour and fragile restraint, which are conveyed in this ethereal work.' ©G.E.M.2018
